Afghanistan Railways Transport Nearly 800,000 Metric Tons of Goods by June 2026

The Ministry of Public Works has announced that from the beginning until the end of the month of Jawza 1405 in the Solar Hijri calendar (equivalent to June 2026), a total of 797,482 metric tons of goods have been transported via the country’s railway lines. According to the ministry, these shipments included imports as well as some exports.
Based on information published by the ministry’s press office, the majority of these transports were carried out through the Hairatan port, covering 538,889 metric tons. Additionally, 75,722 tons were transported through the Aqina port, 77,008 tons via the Torghundi port, and 105,863 tons entered the country through the Khaf-Herat railway route.
Officials stated that these transfers included petroleum products, non-oil goods, and other commercial items. During the same period, 2,517 tons of commercial goods were also exported via the railways.
The Ministry of Public Works, under the administration of the Taliban, said it is striving to improve transportation infrastructure and provide more facilities for traders. However, some merchants continuously emphasize the need for greater transparency in the management of railway revenues and the reduction of administrative barriers, a matter that could play a decisive role in increasing trust and boosting exports.
