Postal Package Explosion in Monaco Injures Three in Unprecedented Incident

An explosion caused by a postal package in front of a residential building in Monaco injured three people, with local authorities describing the event as “deliberate” and unprecedented. The blast occurred on Monday night at around 9 PM local time in an area near the French border, prompting heightened security measures in the vicinity.
According to French media reports, among the injured is Vadim Yermolayev, a Ukrainian businessman residing in Monaco. A couple in their fifties or sixties was also seriously injured, with their condition reported as critical. Additionally, a 13-year-old teenager, believed to be related to the couple, sustained minor injuries.
The Monaco Attorney General stated that a suspect placed a bag or package in the building’s lobby and then fled the scene. The motive for the attack remains unidentified. Surveillance footage shows the suspect leaving the area after placing the package, and reports indicate he fled towards the town of Beausoleil in France.
Emergency teams also provided first aid to four other individuals who suffered shock and minor injuries from broken glass. Security forces established a cordon to restrict access to the incident site.
Christophe Mirman, Monaco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, described the incident as a deliberate act, noting that such an event is unprecedented in the principality’s history. The prosecutor’s office plans to share further details in a press conference. Prince Albert II also condemned the event as a heinous and shocking crime for the Monaco community.
