Pakistan to Immediately Detain Afghan Nationals without Valid Visas Starting July 10

Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior has issued new directives to provincial authorities and security agencies, stating that from July 10th (19th of Saratan in the Persian calendar), all Afghan citizens lacking valid visas will be detained immediately. According to a report by the newspaper Dawn, the Ministry emphasized that staying without legal documentation will no longer be tolerated after this date, obliging responsible forces to take prompt action. This decision is part of a nationwide plan to repatriate undocumented migrants. In an official letter sent to provincial administrations, governors, police, and other law enforcement bodies, the strict, coordinated, and unified implementation of this plan was stressed. The Ministry of Interior has instructed local officials to diligently follow systematic procedures for the detention and transfer of individuals subject to this order. Security agencies have also been tasked with submitting daily reports on the number of Afghans without visas, actions taken against them, and their current status to the Ministry. The document states that the enforcement of this directive is of highest priority and must be executed without delay.
