Pakistan Army Claims Arrest of Afghan Citizen in Karachi Military Base Attack

The Pakistan Army has announced that following an attack by armed assailants on a military facility in Karachi, three security personnel were killed and four others injured. According to the military, during the confrontation, three attackers were also killed and one wounded assailant was arrested, who, the army states, is an Afghan citizen.
In a statement released on Sunday, June 27, the Pakistan Army said the attack targeted the Rangers forces camp in Karachi. The militant group ‘Jamaat-ul-Ahrar,’ affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban, has claimed responsibility for the assault. The group had previously issued a statement admitting responsibility for the incident.
According to the army’s statement, the assailants attempted to enter the camp after detonating an explosion at the main gate, but encountered resistance from security forces and failed to achieve their intended objectives.
The Pakistan Army has not disclosed further details regarding the identity of the detained individual. However, the arrest of an Afghan citizen in connection with the attack could heighten sensitivities about the activities of armed groups in the region and their security implications.
The Pakistan Army has warned that retaliatory operations against those responsible for the attack will be carried out and emphasized that efforts to identify and suppress involved networks will continue.
