Minister Prioritizes Safe Drinking Water for Returning Refugees in Laghman

The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development under Taliban rule has announced that providing safe drinking water to returning migrants in Laghman province is a top priority. This was discussed in a meeting between Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, and Qari Bakhtiar Moaz, Governor of Laghman.
According to the ministry, the meeting took place in the minister’s office with the presence of Mawlawi Sharafuddin Muslim, Deputy of Planning and Policy. During the meeting, the Laghman governor explained the situation of returning migrants in the province and identified the shortage of safe drinking water as a significant challenge in their settlement areas.
The Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development emphasized the principle of balanced development, stating that the needs and priorities of the people are considered in the implementation of development projects. Addressing the problems of returning migrants is one of the ministry’s fundamental responsibilities.
He also assured that, according to available resources and capacities, necessary cooperation would be provided to improve infrastructure services and resolve the water shortage issue in Laghman. However, as the wave of returning migrants to several provinces increases, local residents hope these commitments will move beyond promises and translate into practical, tangible actions in the areas where returnees reside.
