EU to Deport Only Afghan Migrants Who Commit Crimes, Says Commission Spokesperson

Marques Lambert, spokesperson for the European Commission, has stated that European countries will only deport Afghan citizens who have committed crimes and are considered threats to the security of EU member states. Lambert explained that the decision to deport migrants is made independently by each EU member country, with the European Commission playing a facilitating role in the process. According to him, the Commission merely provides a platform for technical discussions and coordination related to the repatriation process. The European Union, composed of 27 member countries, allows each nation to decide on migrant acceptance or deportation based on its domestic laws. Nevertheless, the issue of forced migrant returns remains a sensitive topic in the EU’s migration policy. Meanwhile, a delegation from the Taliban administration is scheduled to travel from Turkey to Brussels, the capital of Belgium and the main center of the EU institutions, today (Tuesday). So far, no further details have been released regarding the purpose of this visit or the likely topics of discussion.
