New Mosque Worth 32 Million Afghanis Opens in Nad Ali, Helmand

A new grand mosque, built at a cost of 32 million Afghanis, was inaugurated in the Shorab area of Nad Ali district in Helmand province. The mosque is located alongside the Kandahar-Herat highway and, according to officials, aims to provide convenience for travelers along this route.

Mawlawi Mohammad Younus Rashid, Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration at the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works, stated at the inauguration ceremony that the project was carried out according to the decree of the Commander of the Faithful and was funded by the ministry’s budget. He added that the mosque was constructed with necessary facilities so that both men and women passing through the Kandahar-Herat highway can perform their prayers properly.

According to officials, the mosque is built on a three-jerib plot of land and features two separate sections for men and women. Mufti Mohammad Naseem Mohammadi, head of the Ministry of Public Works’ Guardianship Department, announced that the mosque has a total capacity of 450 worshippers.

The deputy minister also assured Helmand residents that the Ministry of Public Works is striving to reconstruct the province’s major highways—which have yet to be fundamentally restored—with appropriate funding and resources to meet quality standards. This comes amid ongoing calls from many Helmand residents for improvements in transport infrastructure and practical attention to the damaged highways, demanding transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
