Paving of Konar–Nuristan Highway Officially Commences

The Taliban’s Public Works Department has announced that the asphalt paving of the Konar–Nuristan highway has officially begun, progressing from Nuristan province towards Konar.
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, the spokesperson for the department, stated in a message posted on the social media platform X that the asphalt paving operation has entered its execution phase. He added that this project is considered one of the key infrastructure initiatives in eastern Afghanistan.
According to the information provided, the construction work on the Konar–Nuristan highway has been divided into three sections or “lots.” This approach is commonly used to accelerate progress and better manage technical and contractual matters.
The Konar–Nuristan highway is regarded as one of the important transportation routes in the eastern zone, connecting residents of the two provinces. The successful completion of this project to standard could significantly improve travel, facilitate the transport of commercial goods, and enhance access to essential services for local populations.
