Tehran Offers to Mediate in Afghanistan-Pakistan Tensions to Promote Peace

The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Tehran is ready to play a role in easing tensions and peacefully resolving disputes between Afghanistan and Pakistan. On Tuesday morning, May 24, Esmail Baghayi said during his weekly press conference that Iran is prepared at all levels to take action to reduce violence between the two neighboring countries.
Responding to questions about recent visits by Pakistani officials to Tehran and the possibility of Iran’s mediation, Baghayi stated that the current focus is on ending the war and preventing the crisis from spreading in the region. He emphasized that developments among neighboring countries are of special importance to Tehran.
According to the Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson, the issue of tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan is a serious concern for Tehran. He noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has previously declared it will not hesitate to undertake any action that could help reduce violence and defuse tensions.
Baghayi stressed that this position has been communicated to various parties and that Tehran seeks to resolve disputes through dialogue and political solutions.
These remarks come amid increased border clashes and tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan in recent weeks, raising concerns about expanding insecurity in border areas and its impact on regional stability.
