CSTO and OSCE Secretaries-General Discuss Afghanistan’s Impact on Regional Security in Vienna

The Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) met with the Secretary-General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna to emphasize the need for ongoing monitoring of what has been termed the ‘Afghanistan factor’ and its effects on regional peace and security.
According to released information, Talatbek Masadikov highlighted to Faridun Sinirlioğlu the importance of continuously assessing the situation in Afghanistan and its consequences for neighboring countries. He stated that developments in Afghanistan remain a key agenda item for regional security organizations.
Masadikov also referred to the activities of the working group on Afghanistan under the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers, describing it as part of coordinated efforts to examine the country’s status.
During the meeting, the two officials discussed not only Afghanistan but also the overall situation concerning international peace and security. They underscored the importance of maintaining communication and cooperation between regional organizations for effectively managing shared security challenges.
