Over 100 US Diplomatic Posts in West Asia Remain Vacant Amid Concerns

Israeli media outlet Jewish Insider has reported that more than 100 United States diplomatic positions in West Asia remain unfilled, raising concerns among former American officials. According to the report, several key posts in the region have yet to be appointed by the administration of President Donald Trump.

The media outlet notes that a number of former White House officials and ex-diplomats from the US State Department have warned that the continued vacancies in these posts could affect Washington’s influence and diplomatic activities in West Asia. They have urged the Trump administration to accelerate the nomination and confirmation process of ambassadors.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal also reported that dozens of ambassadorial positions, including in several important countries in the region, remain unresolved. According to these reports, the US currently does not have official ambassadors in countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Iraq, and Kuwait.

Meanwhile, some media sources have reported a reduction or suspension of activities at several US diplomatic missions in the Gulf and West Asia region due to security concerns. Iranian officials have previously stated that they have not targeted diplomatic centers during recent conflicts, although there have been reports of attacks by unidentified individuals or groups on some US facilities.

West Asia holds special significance for US foreign policy due to its geopolitical position and role in global security and energy developments. Any diplomatic vacuum in this area could have extensive regional consequences.
