Afghan Disaster Management Officials Meet Uzbek Ambassador to Discuss Expanding Humanitarian Aid

The Department of Preparedness and Response to Natural Disasters announced that Noorul Haq Alumi, the head of the department, met with Ibek Usmanov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Afghanistan. The two sides discussed expanding humanitarian aid, managing natural disasters, and strengthening bilateral cooperation.

According to Alumi, climate change in recent years has led to an increase in natural events across the country, significantly impacting the lives of residents. He emphasized that as a result of this situation, needs have also increased, and Afghanistan requires foreign cooperation and aid more than ever.

In a statement released following the meeting, the Uzbek ambassador stated that his country is committed to continuing humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan and will increase support levels during natural disasters.

Afghanistan is among the countries most vulnerable to climate change, and each year floods, droughts, and other natural events cause extensive damage to various regions. This situation highlights the urgent need for transparent planning and effective management by responsible agencies, including those operating under the Taliban administration.
