Over 11,000 Afghans Return Home in One Week, UN Reports

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced that between May 3 and May 9 of this year, a total of 11,515 Afghan nationals returned to Afghanistan from several neighboring countries. According to statistics released by the UN agency, among the returnees, 5,150 were men and 6,365 were women, indicating that the return flow encompasses various demographic groups.
The report states that the majority of these individuals—11,354—came from Pakistan, while 129 returned from Tajikistan and 32 others from Iran. The UNHCR has not provided further details about the circumstances of their return or their resettlement status.
As the return process continues, concerns remain regarding the availability of livelihood opportunities, employment, and access to basic services inside Afghanistan. Responsibility for addressing these issues is attributed to the Taliban administration and relevant organizations.
