Taliban Government Approves 48 Investment Projects Worth 35 Billion Afghanis

The Economic Deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office announced that the Inter-Ministerial Investment Committee has so far reviewed and approved 48 domestic and foreign projects with a total value of 35 billion Afghanis. According to this body, some of these projects have already entered the implementation phase in several provinces across the country.
A statement published on the official page of this deputy office on X (formerly Twitter) indicated that the projects cover sectors including electricity, infrastructure, construction, agriculture, transportation, and information technology. Following comprehensive evaluations by the committee, the plans received approval from the Economic Commission and were ultimately endorsed by the Taliban leadership.
The source added that the total cost of these projects amounts to 35 billion Afghanis, and their implementation is underway in various provinces. It was also claimed that these projects have created direct and indirect employment opportunities for thousands of people and have revitalized the domestic construction materials market.
The Inter-Ministerial Investment Committee comprises the Ministries of Finance, Industry and Commerce, Mines and Petroleum, Water and Energy, Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, and the Investment Support Agency. This committee was established in 1401 (2022-2023) under the umbrella of the Economic Deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The stated goals of the committee include accelerating the approval process of investment projects, reducing bureaucracy, coordinating among ministries, and attracting both domestic and foreign investment. However, the Taliban administration has yet to release detailed information regarding supervision mechanisms, financial transparency, and the actual progress of these projects. Economic experts emphasize that providing clear and accessible information to investors and citizens is essential to building trust in the current economic environment.
