Reconstruction of 60,000-Ton Oil Reserves Begins in Hairatan

The General Directorate of Emirati Companies has announced that the Emirati Afghanistan Oil and Gas Company has started the reconstruction of Kabul Bank’s second storage facility at Hairatan port, which has a total capacity of 60,000 tons.

According to the directorate, currently about 20,000 tons of this storage capacity is in use, and plans have been made to fully activate the remaining 40,000 tons after the reconstruction process is completed. Officials added that with the full activation of this facility, the capacity for storing and managing petroleum products at the port will increase.

Based on the information provided, these reserves have been inactive for the past 17 years, and the rehabilitation and reconstruction process is now regularly overseen by the Hairatan Port Oil and Gas Directorate. However, details regarding the project’s cost and exact completion time have not been disclosed; a matter that highlights the need for greater transparency by the Taliban administration in managing public assets.

It has also been stated that railway-related facilities have been established in the area to allow direct transfer of wagons to these reserves. Hairatan Port, located in Balkh province, is one of the country’s most important trade gateways and plays a key role in the import of petroleum products.
