Unexploded Pakistani Shell Kills One Child and Injures Four in Paktia Province

The Paktia provincial police command announced that yesterday in the Dand Patan district of the province, the explosion of an unexploded shell fired by Pakistani forces killed one child and injured four others.
According to Muneeb Zadaran, spokesperson for the Paktia police command, the incident occurred in the Shapole Kholay area near the Durand Line. The shell had been previously fired and remained unexploded until the children came into contact with it, causing it to detonate.
This incident highlights once again the Taliban administration’s inability to protect the lives of citizens, particularly children. The lack of serious measures to clear border areas of mines and remnants of war has increased the risk to the people of Afghanistan, especially children.
The Taliban administration has so far introduced no effective program to prevent similar incidents in border districts, a situation that has left families in these border regions in a critical condition.
