Brazil Supreme Court voids Flavio Bolsonaro’s passports amid election dispute

Brazil’s judiciary has ordered the cancellation of Flavio Bolsonaro’s passports amid allegations surrounding the results of the presidential election. A Supreme Court judge ordered the invalidation of his regular and diplomatic passports and required him to surrender all of his travel documents within 24 hours.

The court order also includes a ban on the defeated candidate leaving the country, as well as restrictions on his contact with his lawyer, who is under investigation in a money laundering case.

Flavio Bolsonaro, the son of Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro, announced the move after receiving a summons from the federal police to hand over his passports, following a meeting with his father.

The judicial measures come after the presidential election results, in which Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was declared the winner with about 51.8% of the vote, defeating Flavio Bolsonaro by around 4.4 million votes.

After the election results, Flavio Bolsonaro said he would not accept the defeat and had turned to the judiciary to seek annulment of the election.
