Taliban sports chief attends 14th Russia International Sports Forum

Mawlawi Ahmadullah Wasiq, director general of physical education and sports for the Taliban administration, took part in the 14th International Sports Forum held in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk. The forum was held under the slogan, “Russia: the Land of Sport,” and sports representatives from 35 countries also attended the event. The main focus of the gathering was said to be strengthening international sports relations.

Some experts have warned that such participation could, under the guise of sport, pave the way for facilitating the Taliban administration’s political relations, while sports and social issues in Afghanistan still face many challenges.
