Russia summons Danish ambassador over Baltic Sea incident

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said it had summoned Denmark’s ambassador in Moscow and conveyed its protest over the approach of a Danish military helicopter to a Russian frigate. The ministry warned that a repeat of what it called Denmark’s dangerous actions in the Baltic Sea could lead to an escalation of tensions.

Russia’s Defence Ministry also said a frigate from the Baltic Fleet fired two flare rounds to prevent what it described as a provocative action after the Danish helicopter came close. According to the ministry, the helicopter left the area after the warning shots.
