Poverty, Joblessness Make Rebuilding Returnees’ Lives Difficult in Helmand

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says economic difficulties and limited access to basic services have made it harder for newly returned migrants to rebuild their lives in Afghanistan’s Helmand province.
The agency wrote on the social media platform X on Thursday, 9 Mizan, that during OCHA’s visit to the province, Helmand residents identified poverty, unemployment, food insecurity and limited access to health services as their main concerns.
According to OCHA, returnees in Helmand are also facing difficulties in finding work and meeting their basic needs.
