Afghan water utility team visits New Delhi wastewater treatment plant
Afghanistan’s urban water supply and sewerage company says a delegation led by Ghulam-Rahman Kazem, the company’s chief executive, has visited the Okhla wastewater treatment plant in New Delhi to examine new technologies and experience in wastewater management and treatment.
According to the company, the purpose of the trip was to learn about the methods used in wastewater treatment and to use existing experience for similar projects in Afghanistan. During the visit, the Afghan delegation was briefed on the plant’s capacity, technology, treatment process and how treated water is used at the facility.
The Afghan water supply and sewerage company also said members of the delegation shared technical information related to the Gulbagh wastewater treatment plant in Kabul, which is under construction, with the Indian side. Based on this information, the two sides agreed to review systems and technologies suited to Afghanistan’s conditions for use in the country’s wastewater treatment projects.
Afghanistan’s urban water supply and sewerage company is one of the bodies responsible for water and sewage services in the country, and the Gulbagh Kabul project is among the plans related to wastewater management in the capital.
