Land dispute in Nangarhar leaves four dead, three wounded

A clash between two families over land ownership in Chaparhar district of Nangarhar province has left four people dead and three others injured.

Syed Tayyeb Hamad, spokesman for the Taliban-run police command in Nangarhar, said the incident took place today, Saturday, 21 Sunbula, in the village of Zagho in Chaparhar district. He did not give details on whether the dead were from one side of the dispute or both.

According to the Taliban official, their forces arrived at the scene after the incident, took the injured to hospital and detained two people in connection with the case. He added that investigations are ongoing and that those arrested will be handed over to judicial authorities.

Fatal clashes of this kind over land and local disputes are occasionally reported from various provinces across the country. Chaparhar district is part of Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan.
