Taliban says 15 people arrested over crimes in six provinces
The Taliban administration said it has arrested 15 people in connection with several criminal incidents in six provinces. According to the Taliban-run police, the arrests were made in cases involving theft, vehicle arson and the production of fake honey.
Based on an announcement by the Taliban administration’s Ministry of Interior, two people were arrested in Ghazni province on suspicion of stealing two motorcycles and some cash. In Zabul, two others were arrested in connection with the theft of 34,500 Afghanis and two mobile phone sets.
The Taliban administration also said two more people were arrested in Jalrez district of Maidan Wardak province in connection with theft. According to the administration, one person was also arrested in Kunar province on charges of setting fire to two vehicles.
In Nangarhar, officials from the criminal investigations department of the police command under Taliban administration said they had uncovered a factory producing fake honey in the Saracha area of Jalalabad city’s ninth security district. They said eight people were arrested in connection with the case.
At the same time, the electronic crimes department of the Kunduz provincial police command announced that over the past 20 days it had recovered 29 stolen smartphone sets and returned them to their owners.
Ghazni, Zabul, Maidan Wardak, Kunar, Nangarhar and Kunduz are among the areas where criminal incidents and theft cases have been repeatedly reported. Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar, is considered one of the major cities in eastern Afghanistan.
