Fire at Baghdad’s Doura refinery brought under control with no casualties

Iraq’s Oil Ministry said a fire at the Doura refinery, south of Baghdad, has been brought under control without any loss of life.

According to the ministry, the incident occurred after one piece of equipment caught fire and another was damaged in the parking area belonging to the Oil Products Distribution Company.

Earlier, a security source told Shafaq News that a tanker had caught fire inside the Doura refinery and civil defence teams were sent to the scene to contain it. The source did not say what caused the incident or provide further details.

The Doura refinery is located in southern Baghdad and is considered one of Iraq’s best-known oil facilities. Civil defence in Iraq is responsible for responding to emergencies, including fires.
