Freedom Front Says It Advanced in Zebak District of Badakhshan

The Freedom Front has said its forces advanced in several areas of Zebak district in Badakhshan province and captured some Taliban positions.

The front said in a post on X early Monday, 26 August, that after breaking the first line of Taliban fighters, its members pushed the group back in several locations and seized their positions.

According to the Freedom Front’s statement, six Taliban fighters were killed and eight others were wounded in the clashes. The group also said fighting was still continuing in the areas of confrontation.

The Freedom Front added that despite the deployment of fresh forces from Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province, Taliban fighters had been unable to stop its advance.

Badakhshan is located in northeastern Afghanistan, and Zebak is one of the district’s administrative units. In recent weeks, the province has seen increased clashes and unrest, with reports also emerging of continued fighting on several fronts.
