Freedom Front Says It Targeted Taliban Positions in Badakhshan’s Zibak District

The Afghanistan Freedom Front says its forces targeted Taliban positions in Zibak district of Badakhshan province on Friday.

In a statement on Saturday, 24 Asad, the group said the attack was carried out with mortar fire and struck positions where, it said, Taliban forces were preparing to attack Freedom Front positions.

The Freedom Front also claimed the attack inflicted heavy casualties on Taliban forces and that a number of their fighters were killed and wounded.

According to the statement, the wounded and killed Taliban fighters were taken to health centres in Zibak and hospitals in the city of Faizabad.

Zibak district is located in Badakhshan province, which in recent years has repeatedly witnessed sporadic clashes between armed opponents of the Taliban administration and its forces.
