EU Donates 10 Million Euros to Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says the European Union has contributed 10 million euros to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund, a donation set aside to sustain relief services for those in need amid widespread poverty and hardship in the country.
OCHA wrote on X on Thursday, 22 Asad, that the funding will help ensure the continuation of humanitarian services and support the delivery of life-saving assistance to millions of people in Afghanistan.
The announcement comes as many Afghan residents struggle with economic difficulties, hunger and a deepening poverty crisis, while aid agencies have repeatedly warned of funding shortfalls in responding to urgent needs.
Earlier, the World Food Programme (WFP) said that in 2025 more than 13,000 children in Afghanistan had been deprived of malnutrition treatment programmes because of cuts in humanitarian aid.
OCHA is the United Nations body coordinating emergency assistance, and the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund is one of the financial mechanisms used to support relief programmes across different sectors.
