Israeli TV Reports Growing Rift with US Over War Strategy

Israel’s Channel 13 television has reported an escalation in disagreements between Israel and the United States regarding the conduct of the war on three fronts: Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran. The report states that the two sides no longer fully align on their positions. According to the report, Washington’s message to Tel Aviv is that the US government seeks an end to hostilities on all three active fronts. This message was allegedly conveyed by General Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, who recently visited Israel.

The report highlights a widening gap between statements from Israeli officials and approaches announced by Washington, a situation that is unfavorable for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Channel 13 also claimed that Israeli security officials have protested to political leaders about the halt of targeted assassination operations and changes in the Israeli army’s tactics in the Gaza Strip.

In response, Netanyahu declared on Sunday at the start of a cabinet meeting that Israel does not accept the 15-point document related to the Gaza agreement and will not withdraw from the Gaza Strip until Hamas is fully disarmed. He added that the United States has made proposals, some of which are acceptable to Tel Aviv while others are not.

The United States has been Israel’s main ally in regional developments in recent years. However, media reports indicate intermittent disagreements between the two sides over how to manage the Gaza war.
