Netanyahu Rejects 15-Point Gaza Peace Council Plan, Citing Hamas Disarmament
Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, announced on Sunday that the regime does not accept the 15-point document presented by the ‘Peace Council’ regarding the Gaza Strip and will not make any withdrawal until what he called the ‘real disarmament of Hamas’ occurs. This stance could pose a serious challenge to the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire.
Simultaneously, Hamas issued a statement emphasizing its commitment to the agreements reached with mediators and the ‘Peace Council’ on the roadmap to complete the second phase of the ceasefire. The movement called for a clear timetable for implementing the agreed terms.
The Hamas statement noted that the priority of this phase should be to ensure the full execution of the agreement in all its stages, including establishing a complete ceasefire, halting attacks, completing the withdrawal of Israeli forces, reopening crossings, allowing humanitarian aid, addressing the needs of displaced persons, and initiating Gaza’s reconstruction process.
Hamas has urged mediators, guarantors, and Trump’s Peace Council for Gaza to take responsibility for ensuring that all parties adhere to the agreement and prevent any violations that could undermine the ceasefire’s implementation. The movement added that it will continue efforts to finalize the agreement with a responsible approach.
The Gaza Strip has witnessed intense clashes for months, and any disputes over implementing the second phase of the ceasefire have heightened concerns over the ongoing humanitarian crisis and delays in the region’s reconstruction.
