India Views Mecca Defense Pact as Significant Regional Development
India has announced that it is closely monitoring the ‘Mecca Joint Defense Pact’ between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, considering it a significant regional development.
Randeep Goyal, spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, stated that New Delhi is carefully assessing this trilateral defense agreement. According to him, the pact is notably important in the context of regional security developments.
Under the terms of the agreement, any armed attack on one of the member countries will be considered an attack on all members; a provision that could impact the regional security dynamics.
The pact was signed on Friday during a summit of leaders from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan in the city of Mecca. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs added that it will share more details with the media as new information becomes available.
