Kazakhstan’s Wheat Exports to Afghanistan Rise by 18% in First Ten Months of 2023

According to a report by Times of Central Asia, Kazakhstan’s wheat exports to Afghanistan reached 1.87 million tons in the first ten months of this year, marking an 18.3% increase. The Kazakhstan Grain Union stated that Afghanistan remains one of the key markets for the country’s wheat. The union noted that in the fiscal year 2026, Kazakhstan’s wheat exports to Afghanistan grew by 21.5%. This export growth comes as Afghanistan, following restrictions on trade routes through Pakistan, has sought to expand its trade and transit relations with Central Asian countries. Kazakhstan is a major grain producer in Central Asia, and a significant portion of its wheat exports is allocated to regional markets, including Afghanistan.
