Unified Front Reports Death of 8 Taliban Administration Members in Multiple Provinces
The Afghanistan Unified Front has announced that at least eight members of the Taliban administration have been killed and eleven others injured over the past two days in several provinces. If confirmed, these claims would indicate ongoing insecurity and armed clashes in parts of the country.
On Friday, August 7th, the Unified Front released a statement saying that six separate operations were carried out in Kandahar, Helmand, Ghor, Baghlan, and Badakhshan provinces. According to the front, during these operations, two Taliban administration centers were captured, and a quantity of weapons and ammunition was seized by their forces.
According to the Unified Front’s claim, two operations in Kandahar city resulted in the deaths of a senior Taliban police officer and another member in the 15th security district. The front also alleges that a Taliban commander was killed in an attack in Helmand province.
The statement reports that in Ghor province, two Taliban members were killed and four others wounded, and one of the Taliban centers there was seized by Unified Front forces. Additionally, in the Pul-e-Hesar district of Baghlan province, two Taliban members were killed and three others injured.
The Unified Front added that in the Arghoy district of Badakhshan province, one Taliban member was killed and four others wounded.
The Taliban administration has not responded to these claims at the time of this report. In recent months, there have been reports of increased attacks by armed opposition groups in some provinces, although Taliban officials have consistently emphasized the provision of nationwide security.
