Uzbekistan and Afghan Traders Emphasize Boosting Bilateral Trade

Officials from Uzbekistan’s Fergana province and a group of Afghan traders have stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of joint investment projects and increase the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries.

The local administration of Fergana announced that Khairullah Bazarov, the governor of the province, met with Abdul Hamid Anwari, head of Emerald Diamond Trading Company; Attaullah Azimi, head of Kam Air; Abdul Latif Noruzi, head of Taj Mahal Petroleum Company; along with some of their business partners to discuss expanding economic cooperation.

According to the Fergana local administration, both sides agreed to speed up the progress of joint projects and enhance the level of economic cooperation. Increasing the volume of trade exchanges was also highlighted as a key point in the discussions.

During the meeting, new investment opportunities in trade, agriculture, aviation, energy, and logistics sectors were reviewed, with Afghan traders expressing their readiness for broader collaboration with Uzbek companies.

This meeting took place following the Fergana delegation’s visit to Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif on July 26 and 27, during which “Fergana Trade Houses” were inaugurated in these two cities. Fergana province, located in eastern Uzbekistan, is considered one of the country’s important industrial and commercial hubs.
