Turkey Offers Support for Iran-US Talks, Emphasizes Priority of Strait of Hormuz Issue
Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, announced that his country is ready to provide any necessary support for negotiations between Iran and the United States.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart in Ankara, he expressed hope that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen soon and that related tensions would ease.
Fidan claimed that beyond the Strait of Hormuz issue, especially concerning the nuclear file, certain fundamental agreements have been formed between Tehran and Washington; however, he stressed that resolving the Strait of Hormuz issue remains a priority.
According to Turkey’s Foreign Minister, if Iran and the United States show political will, reaching a sustainable agreement between the two sides will be possible.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the most important energy transit routes in the world, and any tension in this corridor affects global oil markets.
