Kuwait Allocates $2.5 Million to Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund
The Kuwait Arab Economic Development Fund announced that based on two new agreements with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), it has allocated $2.5 million to support humanitarian programs in Afghanistan.
The fund stated in a press release that the total value of these two agreements amounts to $5 million, which will be equally distributed between the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund and the Syria Humanitarian Fund.
According to the Kuwait Arab Economic Development Fund, these contributions will finance urgent humanitarian programs and projects, address critical needs, and provide life-saving assistance to vulnerable and needy individuals.
The press release added that the new financial resources to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund, which is managed by OCHA, enable a faster and more flexible response to humanitarian crises, support partner organizations, and enhance coordination of relief operations.
The Kuwait Arab Economic Development Fund also noted that with the signing of these agreements, the country’s total contributions to joint projects with OCHA have reached approximately $16.1 million.
Afghanistan has faced a widespread humanitarian crisis in recent years, with millions of people across different regions of the country requiring urgent assistance.
