Taliban forces evacuate Khatam al-Anbiya religious school in western Kabul

Local sources say Taliban intelligence forces raided the Khatam al-Anbiya religious school in western Kabul on Monday, 30 Sunbula, shut it down and ordered the administrators and students out of the building.

According to the sources, during the operation, Seyed Hassan Fazelzadeh, the school’s administrator, along with several teachers, were also arrested.

The sources said Taliban forces surrounded the school at around 10 a.m. and, after expelling the students and officials, fully sealed the entire school building, the “Martyr Mazari Grand Prayer Hall” and its administrative sections.

The Khatam al-Anbiya religious school is located in the Madreseh station area in western Kabul. The sources said the “Commission for Resolving Disputes between Kuchis and Settlers,” which had been created by the Taliban administration, was also based at the same location, but it is still unclear whether the commission’s office has also been closed.

The move comes after the Taliban administration recently also surrounded and evacuated the Khatam al-Nabiyin seminary in Kabul, which was known as the largest religious centre belonging to Shiite Muslims in Afghanistan. The Taliban’s recent actions against Shiites have drawn widespread reactions and heightened concerns over the situation of Hazaras and Shiites under the group’s rule.
