North Korea Condemns Japan’s Tomahawk Missile Tests, Warns Against Military Build-up
Kim Yo-jong, sister of the North Korean leader, condemned Japan’s Tomahawk missile tests and warned that Pyongyang will not remain silent in the face of Tokyo’s military strengthening. She stated that these tests threaten not only North Korea’s security but also the stability of other countries in the region. According to her, Japan is rapidly pursuing its transformation into a military power amid complex developments in the international system. Kim Yo-jong emphasized that North Korea will not be indifferent to Japan’s military decisions and actions. Earlier, Japan’s Ministry of Defense announced that the country had conducted Tomahawk missile tests with support from the U.S. Navy, regarding the tests as a sign of progress in its missile program. Meanwhile, Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, said Japan is swiftly moving towards militarization and gradually distancing itself from its post-World War II commitments. Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also described Japan’s rearmament efforts as undermining efforts for peace and lasting security in Asia.
