China Denies Supplying Any Weapons to Iran

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has rejected reports about the transfer of Chinese-made man-portable air defense missile launchers to Iran, calling them “lies.” Mao Ning, spokesperson for the ministry, stated at a weekly press conference in Beijing on Thursday that such claims are “completely unfounded and untrue.” He emphasized that China’s position on this matter is clear and that the country has always sought to reduce tensions and end conflicts.

This response followed a Reuters report citing anonymous sources that Iran is set to receive its first shipment of air defense systems in the coming weeks. According to the report, the shipments would be transported from Urumqi in western China through Pakistan to Iran.

Meanwhile, Pakistan also denied the claim that such shipments would transit through its territory. The Pakistan Army’s public relations office stated that these speculations are baseless and strongly refuted.
