Afghanistan Appoints New Coaching Staff for U14 and U20 National Football Teams Ahead of International Competitions
The Afghanistan Football Federation has announced the appointment of a new coaching staff for the country’s under-14 and under-20 national football teams, a move made ahead of their participation in international tournaments.
According to the federation’s statement, Kourosh Barmak has been appointed as the head coach, with Mehdi Heydari Esfahan serving as the goalkeeping coach for both teams. It was noted that Barmak holds the “Pro” coaching license from the Asian Football Confederation.
The introduction ceremony for the two coaches was held with the presence of federation officials, players of the under-20 team, and members of the youth teams’ coaching staff. The Football Federation added that both Iranian coaches have prior experience working in Iranian club football as well as with various national youth teams.
Additionally, Mohammad Nasir Sedaghat, the manager of the Afghanistan national futsal team, has been appointed as the head of the under-14 and under-20 football teams.
The Afghanistan under-14 team is scheduled to participate in the FIFA 2026 Global Football Festival. Meanwhile, the under-20 team will compete in the qualifying stage of the 2027 AFC Under-20 Asian Cup, grouped with Bahrain, Tajikistan, and Jordan.
