Iran’s Embassy in Kabul Announces Free Arbaeen Visa for Afghan Pilgrims
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul has announced that the process of issuing Arbaeen pilgrimage visas for Afghan pilgrims will be free of charge, with applicants required to pay only five euros for accident insurance.
According to the embassy’s statement, simultaneously with the start of issuing Arbaeen visas by Iraq for Afghan pilgrims, Iranian missions in Afghanistan will also begin issuing Arbaeen pilgrimage visas. The embassy noted that the rules and conditions for this process have been communicated to the relevant companies.
Meanwhile, the Center for Foreign Nationals and Immigrants Affairs of Iran’s Ministry of Interior had earlier stated that registration for Afghan pilgrims residing in Iran will begin on July 30, 2026, through the offices responsible for foreign nationals’ residence and employment services (known as kafalat offices).
According to this announcement, holders of valid residence documents — including Amayesh Card 19, valid residence booklets, passports with one-year residence, family passports, and temporary residence cards (types 1, 2, and 3) — can register and participate in the Arbaeen Hosseini ceremonies. The Arbaeen event is held annually in Iraq, attracting millions of pilgrims each year.
