Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Accuses EU of Hypocrisy Over Human Rights Concerns
The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly criticized the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs’ comments regarding “human rights concerns” about Iran, calling them a sign of Brussels’ double standards.
Esmaeil Baqaei wrote on social media that, while Kaja Kallas speaks of commitment to human rights, the EU, according to him, has supported deadly attacks against the Iranian people by providing “logistical and technical support.”
Baqaei also claimed that these attacks targeted civilians and vital infrastructure in Iran, and that the EU has refrained from condemning what he called “clear war crimes.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson described this approach as a “loss of credibility” and called it the “purest form of hypocrisy.” The European Union has yet to respond to these remarks.
