Saudi Arabia Warns Regional Tensions Threaten Global Security and Economy
Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, has warned that recent tensions in the region are rapidly extending beyond geographical borders, threatening global security, energy markets, and economic growth. In an interview with Al Riyadh newspaper, he emphasized that recent developments have shown how regional instability can have consequences beyond the Middle East and impact the global economy. The Saudi Foreign Minister added that there is no alternative to diplomacy and relying solely on military power cannot create lasting stability. According to him, achieving regional stability requires strengthening an order based on respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, good neighborliness, freedom of navigation, and adherence to international law. He also stressed that violations of these principles must be met with accountability, as aggressive and hegemonic policies only lead to greater insecurity.
