Afghan Investor Launches $80 Million Textile Factory in Kabul Creating 12,000 Jobs

An Afghan investor has announced that a large textile factory in Kabul, with an investment exceeding $80 million, will soon become operational. According to project officials, once the factory starts production, it will provide direct employment opportunities for 12,000 people working in three shifts.

Sayed Khan Parwani, the owner of the factory, stated that construction work on the project, spanning nearly 40 acres in Kabul, is about 90 percent complete. He added that the necessary infrastructure has been finalized, machinery installation is ongoing, and modern equipment has been imported from abroad. According to him, the factory’s production capacity will reach 50,000 square meters of fabric per hour.

Shah Wazir Amani, the factory’s technical engineer, also said that six weaving halls are ready for operation and production is expected to commence within two months. Project leaders said that initially foreign experts will oversee the production process while internal staff are simultaneously trained to gradually assume technical and operational responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the Taliban-led Ministry of Economy has described the textile industry as a key pillar of the country’s economic strategy and stated that efforts continue to attract further investment in this sector. Abdul Latif Nazari, deputy minister, said the industry, particularly textiles, can significantly contribute to economic growth, job creation, and self-sufficiency.

Economic experts also view the development of the textile industry as a factor for increasing national revenue and reducing dependence on imports. They believe that launching large textile factories can prevent capital outflow and strengthen domestic production—an initiative that will help improve the country’s economic situation in the long term.
