1,416 Afghan Prisoners Released and Returned from Pakistan This Week
The Press Office of the Ministry of Migrants and Repatriations under the Taliban administration announced that during this week, 1,416 Afghan migrants have returned to the country after being released from prisons in Pakistan. According to the ministry, these individuals entered Afghanistan through two border crossings after completing the release procedures.
Based on the published information, 1,083 of the released migrants entered through the Torkham border crossing in Nangarhar province, and 333 others entered via the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province.
Torkham and Spin Boldak are among the most important border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan, serving as key routes for migrant movement and trade. In recent years, arrests and deportations of Afghan migrants from Pakistan have increased, causing widespread concern.
Despite the recurrence of such incidents, the Taliban administration has yet to provide details on practical measures to prevent the arrest and mistreatment of Afghan migrants in Pakistan, an issue that has consistently drawn criticism from migrants’ families and human rights activists.
