Badakhshan Governor Denies Rumors of Dispute with Taliban Commander
Mohammad Ismail Ghaznawi, the governor of Badakhshan, has dismissed reports of a dispute between Janah Khan Fath, the local Taliban commander in the province, and the former deputy governor of Zabul, calling the allegations ‘untrue.’
Speaking to reporters, he said that rumors about tensions between Janah Khan Fath and Taliban administration officials are unfounded and exaggerated. According to him, there is no official disagreement in this regard.
The Badakhshan governor also rejected claims that forces had been deployed to arrest Janah Khan Fath, adding that the Taliban administration has not conducted any military operation to detain him so far.
This comes amidst an increase in unofficial reports over recent months about internal disputes within the Taliban’s administrative structure—a topic that remains ambiguous and raises unanswered questions due to a lack of transparency.
