Over 10 Million Attend Funeral Procession of Martyred Leader in Iraq

The High Committee for Organizing Funeral Ceremonies in Iraq announced that more than 10 million people participated in the funeral procession of the martyred Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei (may his soul be sanctified) in the cities of Najaf al-Ashraf and Karbala al-Mualla. According to the committee, the ceremony was held with widespread public attendance and without any significant security incidents.
Ehsan Yassin Al-Awadi, head of the High Committee for the Funeral of the Martyred Leader of the Revolution and head of the office of the Iraqi Prime Minister, stated in a statement that extensive planning for the management of this ceremony began from the earliest hours after the mission was assigned. He said that coordination meetings were held with relevant bodies in the Islamic Republic of Iran, local Iraqi governments, the holy shrines authorities, the Joint Operations Command, and security and service agencies.
According to a report by the Iraqi official news agency (WAFA), these coordinations resulted in developing a comprehensive plan that included establishing specialized committees, designing various scenarios for crowd management, organizing the routes of the mourners’ procession, securing the event, and providing services. A full state of readiness was also declared for all responsible institutions within the framework of this plan.
Al-Awadi added that Hussaini processions and thousands of volunteers played an active role in implementing the programs. He emphasized that the cooperation among official institutions and the broad participation of the Iraqi people ensured that the ceremony was carried out in complete order and smoothly.
At the end, the head of the High Funeral Committee thanked the official institutions, holy shrines authorities, security and military forces—especially the Popular Mobilization Forces—the medical and service staff, Hussaini processions, and volunteers, highlighting their role in the successful holding of this ceremony.
