Turkish Company Sonay Expresses Readiness to Invest in Afghanistan’s Power Generation

A Turkish company named “Sonay” has announced its readiness to invest in the power generation sector in Afghanistan. This was discussed during a meeting between Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, CEO of the Afghan electricity company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, and Fahim Solak, the operations manager for Afghanistan at Sonay.

According to a statement from Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, the meeting focused on investment opportunities in the energy production sector. The CEO described Afghanistan as one of the richest countries in the region in terms of electricity generation resources and stated that there are extensive capacities for investment in various parts of the industry.

Meanwhile, the operations manager of Turkey’s Sonay shared the results of the company’s preliminary studies conducted over the past year regarding power generation opportunities in Afghanistan with Breshna officials.

Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar assured the representative of Sonay that Breshna will support the investment process and facilitate necessary cooperation. He also emphasized that after completing the study phases, the practical work on the projects should begin as soon as possible.

Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat stated that over the past five years, dozens of domestic and foreign companies have invested in power generation projects and the establishment of electrical facilities in the country. With the completion of these projects, a significant portion of Afghanistan’s electricity needs will be met.
