Afghanistan Urges Acceleration of Disaster Projects in Cooperation with War Child Canada

The General Directorate of Disaster Preparedness announced that during a meeting with the program manager of War Child Canada, emphasis was placed on implementing the memorandum of understanding, advancing ongoing projects, and strengthening bilateral cooperation.

According to a statement from the directorate, which operates under the Taliban administration, Mohammad Hamed, War Child Canada’s program manager, reported that the ongoing projects are progressing according to the terms of the memorandum of understanding and in coordination with the Disaster Preparedness Directorate, with completion expected soon.

Meanwhile, Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, the General Director of the directorate, stressed the timely implementation of programs, transparency in execution processes, reducing administrative costs, and the direct use of aid to support victims of natural disasters.

Afghanistan is among the countries most vulnerable to natural events such as floods, earthquakes, and droughts. Relief organizations have repeatedly emphasized the necessity of transparent and effective management of aid to support affected residents; an issue expected to be seriously pursued in the framework of the new cooperation efforts.
