Taliban Police Commander Killed by Brother in Nangarhar

The guard commander of the Taliban police in Chaparhar district, Nangarhar province, was shot and killed by his brother yesterday evening. The incident took place in Hashekhel village while the commander was at home on leave.
The Taliban police command in Nangarhar confirmed the death in a statement, saying the shooting occurred around 5 p.m. According to the statement, investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and circumstances of the incident.
The statement added that the attacker was “mentally ill,” although no further details were provided regarding the nature of the illness or any prior conflict between the two brothers.
This event comes amid a recent rise in cases of domestic violence and armed incidents in some provinces, raising questions about the security situation and the Taliban administration’s control over armed individuals affiliated with it.
