Potato Cultivation in Panjshir Increases by 19 Percent

The Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Panjshir has announced that the area under potato cultivation in the province has increased by 19 percent compared to last year. According to the department, this year 1,092 hectares of land in Panjshir have been allocated for potato farming, while last year the figure was 918 hectares.

Qari Fazlullah Diyuband, head of the Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock Department in Panjshir, stated that the expansion of cultivated areas is a result of greater attention by farmers to producing this crop.

He added that with the increase in cultivated land and favorable conditions, the potato yield this year is also expected to rise compared to last year. Potatoes are considered among the important agricultural products in Panjshir province and help meet part of the domestic market demand.
